The course enables a deeper understanding of burning issues in the contemporary development debate, focusing on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the role of civil society actors, particularly religious actors.
The course provides insight into how to realize the vision "Transforming Our World", which was also the title of the UN resolution that specified all the 17 SDGs. The course also explores the conditions that prevent the achievement of these SDGs.
VID Specialized University offers this course in collaboration with the Norwegian Association for Development Research (NFU), hosting the NFU seminar November 8, 2018 and in cooperation with the Justice Conference November 9, 2018. Both of these are arranged with plenaries and workshops. A separate gathering 7 November at 4pm-6pm comes in addition.

Students at VID and all higher education institutions as well as employees and volunteers in organizations, public institutions and churches can take the course. Together with the course, VID offers autumn 2018 a 5 ECTS subject in Poverty and Spring 2019 a 5 ECTS subject in Theology and Development.
