This course provides students with a range of interactive learning opportunties related to service development in dementia care and citizenship.
It covers key theoretical ideas, including personhood, relational care and citizenship, and the latest evidence on interventions and approaches for improving the lives of people with dementia and their families.
The course takes account of those newly diagnosed with dementia, as well as people with more advanced dementia. It highlights appropriate measures for identifying needs and implementing change at a service / organisational level for people living in their own homes and care homes. An interdisciplinary and partnership approach is emphasised.
Dementia is a complex health condition associated with a range of service development and practice challenges. People with dementia often have other health conditions. Students will have the opportunity to develop a critical awareness of key debates related to developing services for people with dementia, and learn about the latest intiatives in Norway in the context of worldwide policy debates.
