Marthe Østerud Primstad har cand.theol fra VID Vitenskapelige høgskole (2018) og har jobbet som prest i Den norske kirke i syv år. Nå er hun PhD stipendiat på VID med et prosjekt som fokuserer på prester sin fortolkning av og forpliktelse på det lutherske bekjennelsesskriftet Confessio Augustana.
