Academic profile

Meltem Yilmaz Sener, PhD, is a Senior Researcher/Forsker II at the Center for Intercultural Communication at VID Specialized University, Norway. She got her PhD degree in Sociology from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign in the USA in 2010. Previously, she also worked at Nord University as an associate professor and Istanbul Bilgi University as an assistant professor, in addition to holding visiting positions in the US and Norway. Her research interests are in migration, transnational studies, development, social inequality, social policy, and gender.
