Academic profile
Norma works as Researcher II at the Centre for Intercultural Communication with focus on labour market integration of immigrants. She participates in projects related to newly arrived refugees, workplace inclusion, and protection of victims from negative social control. She also teaches social innovation in VID's Master's programme in Community Development and Social Innovation (MACOMM).
Norma has earned her PhD from the Department of Politics and Public Administration, University of Hong Kong in 2015 With the doctoral thesis "The Management Strategies of Advocacy-oriented Social Service Nonprofit Organisations in Hong Kong". Prior to this, she has a Masters in Public Policy from the University of Singapore, and her bachelor degree is in Economics and Politics from the University of Durham. She has broad research interests including Migration studies, civil society studies, nonprofit management and policy studies. She is experienced in both quantitative and qualitative research methods.
