Sámi Nature-Centered Christianity in the European Arctic: Indigenous Theology beyond Hierarchical Worldmaking (Lexington Books, 2022) by Tore Johnsen, associate professor at VID, has received broad international acclaim. The book demonstrates the tension between North Sámi natured-centred Christianity and official Norwegian Lutheranism, emphasising the negotiation of two different types of Christian cosmological orientation. The author describes local Christianity among Sámi communities, and engages with Lutheranism as well as African and Native American theologies. The findings have broad theological relevance.
