Seminar: Authorities’ perspectives and other perspectives
Seminar: Authorities’ perspectives and other perspectives
When conducting research on the welfare state, employment, migration, integration, diversity, and many other topics, we face a challenge: How can we produce results that are relevant to funders, authorities, and society at large while keeping a critical distance to authorities’ problem constructions and their preferred solutions?

- 30. August 2022, 10.00–15.00 (Add to calendar)

Several academic fields have long histories of dealing with this challenge. In this seminar, we depart from classical and recent examples from Norwegian sociology and social anthropology that show how researchers can engage critically but constructively with problem constructions, categories, and frames deriving from funders, authorities, and society at large.
The seminar is organised by Professor Susanne Bygnes (UiB) and Associate Professor Bjørn Hallstein Holte (VID) in collaboration with the MIGREL research group at VID. The seminar is open to PhD students, researchers, and others who are interested in participating at VID. Having read the Norwegian texts in the literature list is not a prerequisite for participating in the seminar.
