The conclusion of the project Increased Quality, More Mobility was marked by an open final seminar on Tuesday, May 12th at VID Specialized University.

The final seminar of the project Increased Quality, More Mobility brought together around 30 staff members and partners for an inspiring day of professional input, experience sharing, and discussions on the future of internationalisation in higher education.

Participants from institutions including MF Norwegian School of Theology, Religion and Society, the University of South-Eastern Norway (USN), OsloMet, and the Norwegian School of Sport Sciences (NIH) helped broaden the conversation beyond a single institution. Together with project partner NMS Global Exchange, this gave the seminar a strong sense of cross-sector collaboration.

From project to practice

Throughout the project period, the aim has been to strengthen the quality of education through increased and better integrated student mobility. The experiences shared at the seminar show that this is about more than simply increasing the number of students going abroad—it is about developing robust structures, stronger partnerships, and clearer academic anchoring.

The project has worked on improving how internationalisation can be integrated into study programmes, how students can be better prepared and supported, and how institutions can facilitate a more coherent culture for mobility.

Another key theme was the importance of trust and long-term partnerships. Experiences indicate that high-quality mobility opportunities depend on close collaboration between academic environments, administrative staff, and international partners.

The way forward

Although the project has now concluded, the overall message from the seminar was clear: the work continues. The experiences gained and measures developed will be carried forward and embedded in regular institutional practice, and the seminar itself was characterised by strong engagement and a shared commitment to further developing the field.

The final seminar thus marked not only a conclusion, but also a starting point for the next phase in strengthening quality and internationalisation in education.
