VID stands for being scholarly, international, and diaconal. At times, VID’s threefold identity becomes especially visible.

On 7–8 May, the Use Your Talents project hosted an international online conference with participants from 16 countries. The project is an NMS-based and Norad-funded development initiative in which Stephanie Dietrich, professor at VID, holds a part-time position.

The conference brought together participants from African partner institutions, as well as partners in Norway, Finland, Germany, and Canada. It provided a platform for sharing research projects, developing new research ideas, and strengthening collaboration on teaching and curriculum development.

“As digital opportunities continue to expand in more and more countries, conferences like this also contribute to a democratisation of knowledge and competence, and create fantastic opportunities for South–South–North cooperation,” says Stephanie Dietrich, who was responsible for organising the seminar.

Participants from Madagascar, Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Cameroon, South Africa, Mali, Finland, Canada, Germany, and Norway took part in the conference.
