3IN-prosjektgruppen ved FHWS inviterer 3IN Allianse-partnere til å delta i deres online forelesning "The Protection of Fundamental Rights in the European Union" 11. desember 2020, under deres årlige menneskerettighetsuke.
The European Union and its member states have long been committed to Human Rights. The main goals are to grant those rights to all EU citizens and to promote them worldwide. However, violations of those rights still occur and are often justified with questionable policies (e.g. in the fields of asylum, security, economy and trade, etc.).
Therefore, our focus lies on the European Union and its member states and, more precisely, on their course of action when it comes to protecting and promoting Human Rights. Our aim is to bring different perspectives from different regions together and have short inputs on the situation in these regions.
The input presentations could for instance be about the history of Fundamental Rights, current developments, violations, or about initiatives to take action against such violations. By following this concept, we would establish a portrait of several European regions and their Human Rights situation.
Topic: The Protection of Fundamental Rights in the European Union – A transnational portrait
Date: 11th December
Time: 13:30 pm – 15:00 pm
Input: Around 15 to 25 minutes – depending on how many speakers sign up for holding a presentation
Audience: Students and staff of FHWS will participate. We would be happy if you manage to invite potentially interested students and staff members as well
The Human Rights Week (7th – 11th December 2020) takes place every year and encourages students, practitioners and scientists to dive in into the topic of Human Rights in order to raise awareness on how to promote and strengthen these fundamental rights. There will be several lectures regarding this topic with various professionals all over the world invited. You are more than welcome to join any lecture you want (the programme will be available online soon).
In case you are interested to participate in our online lecture, please contact Stefanie.witter at fhws.de
