There are three sessions throughout the academic year. Focus is on understanding the requirements for progression in terms of competency, experience and documentation. The course participants will develop three relevant documents; profile document, academic CV and a timeframe for application.
- Session 1 provides detailed information about the progression process along with relevant national regulations and guidelines. This session is open to all (you must register to attend).
- Session 2 and 3 are limited to academics with a PhD qualification and additional research and development experience which includes scientific publications differing from the PhD. This normally requires a minimum 4-year period since completion of the PhD. This is to ensure participants have acquired sufficient academic experience and competency that can be evidenced in the progression application drafts.
- For session 2 and 3, participants will develop the three documents that support the application for promotion: academic CV, profile document and the timeframe for the application.
- Dates for session 2 and 3 and a new registration link will be published in the autumn semester.
- Allocated research time will be used to participate on the course.
- The course will be held on Teams. An English language option will be available.

After completing the programme
The academics responsible for the programme will write an individual report on each participant. This is shared with the participant, the line manager and Pro-Dean for Research. Participants are then followed up at faculty level to address any gaps identified in the report and offered, if relevant, a mentor. You can read more about the mentor programmes at VID here.
