According to Khrono, nearly 10,000 students in bachelor's and master's programs drop out and quit studying altogether each year.
Of the students who start a bachelor's degree, about half, on average between 51-53 percent in recent years, complete their education on the scheduled, or standard time.
A full 67 percent of bachelor students at VID complete their studies in the standard time. This makes the college among the top three educational institutions when it comes to completion rate. Lovisenberg diakonale høgskole and the Oslo National Academy of the Arts have a completion rate of 71 percent and 74 percent, respectively.
- We are naturally very happy about this since these are professional educations that are in great demand in society: Nurses, social educators, social workers, occupational therapists and theologians, says Rector Bård Mæland.
– We stay connected to the students
Ellen Marie Sæthre-Mcguirk is Pro-Rector for Education at VID Specialized University.
- We are very pleased to be able to show good completion figures for most of our basic education programs. We focus on staying connected to the students and that the students receive good follow-up along the way. This has an impact on our completion figures, says Sæthre-Mcguirk to Khrono.
- Where practice is part of the education, we also emphasize good practice placements and good cooperation with working life actors, she adds.
Also when it comes to the dropout rate, VID stands out among those with the lowest percentage. 9 percent of VID's students at bachelor level choose to drop out of the study completely.
