About the project
Dignity plays a crucial role in all types of education, but the term is rarely used in an educational context. Dignity experience are fundamental to human beings. For nursing students in particular, is essential because dignity is a core value in nursing and because one needs to possess dignity to promote someone else. Research shows that nursing education experienced stressful and affect students' self-esteem. Although the importance of nurses 'own dignity is determined and the dignity concept has a central role in nursing education, studies on students' dignity in general and nursing students particularly are limited. Furthermore, there are few studies that illustrate how nursing students’ dignity are promoted or which significance dignity experience can have in nursing education.
The project's aim is to explore the significance of dignity experience for nursing students in their education, and what may be promoting for this dignity experience. The project is a qualitative study with an exploratory / descriptive design and the study will have a hermeneutical approach. This type of approach is concerned with how the understanding of experiences could occur through interpretation in a human reality. Methodical there will be conducted in depth interviews with nursing students and focus group interviews with nursing teachers. The main focus is to bring out the descriptions of the lived experiences. Nursing students' narratives will also be interpreted before the research interviews and focus group interviews with nursing teacher will be based on the interpreted data from nursing students.
