Basis for processing and information letter
Legal basis for processing
You must have a legal basis for processing personal data, also called a legal basis for processing. Depending on the basis you choose, the processing must also meet certain conditions. The most common legal bases in research are consent and the public interest. See Sikt's page on legal basis for processing.
Information letter
As a general rule, you must inform participants about the research project. We recommend that you use Sikt's templates for information letters. Tips:
- Be clear about who will have access to personal data. For example, are there others who will transcribe your interviews? This must be described in the information letter (See more information about transcription).
- The information letter must contain information about VID's data protection officer: Nancy Yue Liu (personvernombud@vid.no).
