Authorisation entitles you to use the professional title associated with your healthcare profession.

How to obtain authorization for

Authorisation for Occupational Therapy and Social Educator

​The Norwegian Directorate of Health is responsible for granting authorisation required for all categories of professions within the legally regulated health sector.

VID registers candidates who have completed a bachelor degree in Altinn with their year group/class. Communication from The Norwegian Directorate of Health regarding the payment of the processing fee is via e-mail. Please ensure that you have a correct e-mail address registered in Studentweb.

Students who complete their degrees earlier/later than their year group/class must notify the Division for Academic and Student Affairs

Authorisation for Nursing (General Nurse)

After completing your Bachelor of Nursing, you can apply for authorisation via Tjenesteportalen for helseaktører (helsedir.no).

You log in with ID-porten and follow a short step-by-step process that ends with payment of a fee. You will get an automatic authorisation registration in the Health Personnel Register (it can take up to 48 hours).

The criteria for obtaining authorisation as a General Nurse are:

  • Completed bachelor's degree at university/university college level
  • A completed bachelor's degree of Nursing is registered in the Diploma Registry

You can read more about the statutory requirements for being entitled to authorisation in Section 48 of the Health Personnel Act (Helsepersonelloven) and Section 3-11 of the Act relating to Universities and University Colleges
