- Check that your laptop is ready for the exam – download Safe Exam Browser
Safe Exam Browser is a specially developed web browser that enables students to answer the exam paper using their own computer. Safe Exam Browser bars access to all non-approved websites, other applications and files during the exam. To be able to open your exam paper during a school exam, Safe Exam Browser must be installed on your computer. You must do this well ahead of sitting the exam.
- On the day of the exam
-
- Room allocations will be available in Studentweb approximately one week before the date of the exam.
- Arrive 30 minutes before the exam is due to start.
- Remember to bring valid photographic ID (the Student app will not be approved).
- Bring your own laptop and charger. If your computer does not have a USB port, you must also bring a USB adaptor.
- It is important that you close down all programmes that run on your computer to ensure that it works to its optimal potential during the exam.
- Connect to the wifi network. The name and password will be made available at the premises.
- Search for vid.no/student/ (not Safe Exam Browser) and go to Inspera. Select Log in with Feide, and log in with your Feide username and password.
- Find your exam and follow the on-screen instructions to open the exam paper in a secure web browser. You will be asked to enter a password (PIN code), which will be made available to you a couple of minutes before the exam starts.
- When the exam starts, you will be granted access to the exam paper.
- If you lose network connection or encounter other technical problems during the exam, contact the invigilator immediately. If you fail to contact the invigilator when you encounter a technical problem, this may be considered cheating or taken as an attempt at cheating.
- When you sit a digital exam, you are personally responsible for submitting your answer electronically. Contact an invigilator when you submit your answer. When the allocated examination time is up, your answer will automatically be locked to bar editing, and you will be taken to the submission page.
- After the exam, your answer will normally be available in Inspera under the Archive tab.
In Inspera Safe Exam Browser during the school exam:
-
- Your answer is automatically saved every 15 seconds.
- Your candidate number is shown in the top left corner.
- Your network connection status is shown in the top left corner.
- The on-screen clock tells you how long you have left to answer the paper (if you have been granted additional time, this will have been added to the time available).
- Open your messages by clicking on the bell to the top right. For example, a message will be sent to you if there is an error in the exam question.
