Relations within professional practice involves working consciously with the relationship between patient / user and practitioner as an integral part of health and social work. The Master’s degree in Health Promotion Relationship is a multidisciplinary study program that thematizes ethical, psychological / psychological and social perspectives on relationship work.
The focus on values and relationships should contribute to critical thinking and ethical reflection in professional practice and constitute the profile and core area of study.
First part of the Master program (60 ECTS)
The first part of the master's program consists of a specialization which is organized as a 60 ECTS education program.
- Further education in mental health work
- Further education in psychosocial work with children and adolescents
- Further education in SEPREP Interdisciplinary Education Program in the treatment, rehabilitation and follow-up of people with serious mental disorders and intoxicants
- Further education in substance abuse and addiction problems
There are originally 5 spots available per field of study.
Second part of the Master program (60 ECTS)
The second part of the Master program is the same for all students, regardless of the field of study. In this section, the topics related to ethics and systematic reflection, relational perspectives, as well as to science theory, research methods and research ethics are further developed and refined. The Master's program will build on the students' ability to further develop their relational competence and develop a critical look at their own practice and the relationship's importance in academic work.
To be admitted to the master's program, you must have a bachelor's degree (180 credits) or another degree or equivalent degree of at least three years' degree in health and social sciences, as well as at least one year of relevant professional practice in a 100% position after completing the bachelor's degree.
Attendance weeks for the Master in health promoting efforts:
Autumn 2020: week 35 and 46
Spring 2021: week 3, 10 and 16
Further study, work and carrier options after finished program
Studies qualify for positions used to teach in various clinical arenas or for professional development and research. Jobs within health and care businesses, NAV / social services or day care that know knowledge at the relevant degrees. The program provides qualifications for professional management positions. The program also qualifies for doctoral positions adapted to doctoral education / further studies at the doctoral level.
Target groups
The study field of mental health work, targets persons with health and social education backgrounds and relevant professional practices who wish to further develop their relationship skills and gain in-depth knowledge in mental health work.
The study field of psychosocial work with children and adolescents, mainly targets persons with health and social studies and educational college / university education and others with college or higher university education with relevant work assignments. The study is primarily for employees in municipalities and districts, working with children, youth and / or young adults (0-23 years), but the study may also be open to applicants from other sectors, services or organizations working with children and young people.
The study field of intoxication and addiction problems, targets people who work in the field of substance abuse and addiction and who want to deepen and develop their knowledge and skills in combination with being in work.
The study field of treatment, rehabilitation and follow-up of people with serious mental disorders and intoxicants, targets employees in municipal health services, specialist health services and others who have treatment and follow-up tasks for people with serious mental disorders and possibly substance abuse problems. The study is aimed at participants who are natural partners from the municipality and specialist health services in the same geographical area.

- 3. årig bachelor eller tilsvarende kompetanse og praksis. Se også opptakskrav iht. hver enkelt studieplan under.
Krav for opptak til masterstudiets 2. del, 60 studiepoeng:
- Ferdig avlagt videreutdanning innen en av de fire studieretningene, med gjeldende studieplan. Gjennomførte videreutdanninger med eldre studieplaner vil bli vurdert individuelt.
