Biblical studies
The degree is aimed at students who are interested in theology from a theoretical and biblical perspective and wish to study the biblical languages of Greek and Hebrew as well as exegete New Testament and Old Testament scriptures. The degree programme also includes church history and systematic theology, and aims to develop students’ skills in working with Biblical scriptures with a view to teaching the Christian faith and practices, ethics and beliefs.
Students can take part in an exchange for one semester in Sweden, Belgium or Germany. The biblical studies qualify students to apply for admission to the Master’s degree in Theology and Religious Studies.
Church development
This is aimed at students who are interested in church work, with a particular focus on leadership and strategy. The field of study covers the subjects of the Old Testament and the New Testament, Greek language and exegesis, and has a particular focus on leadership in
church and missional identity organizations. Theoretical studies are combined with four weeks of work experience in a church.

Structure of the study programme
In the first year, the majority of students follow the subjects in line with the first year of the Programme in Christianity, Religion, Philosophies of Life and Ethics. This is the year you choose the field of study.
The second year will be a combination of joint subjects and fields of study. In the third year, students choose whether they want to study one semester abroad or if they want to take courses at VID. In the fifth semester, students write a Bachelor’s thesis.
