Georgios E. Trantas is a Senior Researcher at VID Specialised University, Stavanger. His research interests primarily comprise migration and the formation of corresponding religioscapes, Eastern Orthodox Christianity, European Integration, forced displacement, interreligious dialogue and migrant integration, among others.
The lecture will be an overview of the EU Commission H2020 project "Churches, Arks of Migratory Narratives: A Comparative Study of the Greek Orthodox Religioscapes in Germany and Great Britain" (Acronym: GO Religioscapes, Grant agreement ID: 789827).
The main theme is how religious symbolic constellations in the British and German public sphere bear evidence and traces of the collective migratory narrative of the aforementioned communities in the lapse of time, i.e. from reterritorialisation to consolidation and integration. Eastern Orthodox religious art and aesthetics are thereby examined and analysed as signifiers of being and belonging.
