Work package 1: Experiences with parental suicidal behavior

Objectives:
- Study childhood experiences of parental suicide attempt
- Explore needs and experiences of parents hospitalized for suicidality
Methodology:
Qualitative semi structured interviews of adults with suicidal parents in childhood and patients admitted to hospital with children under 18 years will be conducted. The starting point for the interview is an "everyday conversation". Thematic analysis and narrative methodology (NM) will be used. NM is well suited for understanding and presenting real life events. The narrative approach provides a basis for presenting the opinions the informants talk about, and how they perceive their experiences have influenced them later in life.
Work package 2: Impact of Maternal Borderline Disorder on Offspring

Objectives:
- To generate knowledge about the lived experiences of youths and young adults exposed to maternal borderline personality disorder during childhood.
- To explore how children and young people have social agency to influence and cope with exposure to maternal BPD and the implications of such abilities both during and beyond childhood.
- To gain insight into how exposure to maternal BPD may impact these individuals' lived experiences, mental health, and general well-being beyond childhood, particularly during young adulthood.
- To gain knowledge of the role and importance of support services available for children and youth.
Methodology:
Qualitative semi-structured interviews of adults with mothers with Borderline disorder in childhood.
Work package 3: Interventions in parental suicide attempt

Objectives:
- To scope out whether there are any effective interventions aimed at children as next of kin if a parent attempt suicide.
Methodology:

Work package 4: Suicide and self-harm in parental bereaved adolescents and young people

Objectives: Study Suicide and self-harm in parental bereaved adolescents and young people and whether family and mental health support differentiate the risk?
