Gender, Health and Interaction (GENDERHEALTH)

At GENDERHEALTH, we conduct research on gender, health and interaction in a broad sense. Our approach to gender includes both biological and social gender, and gender and interaction in healthcare practice are seen in connection with health challenges and health differences related to global challenges, social class, ethnicity, functional capacity, sexual attraction and gender identity.

The research group focuses particularly on women's health because women are in a particularly vulnerable position when it comes to health, both in a global and national perspective. The research includes health challenges, diseases and ailments that are specific to women such as pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding, infertility, the female reproductive organs and sex hormones, as well as diseases/conditions such as gynecological cancer, lipedema, endometriosis and vulvodynia. We also conduct research on genetic counseling, as well as diseases and health challenges that affect women differently than men, such as heart disease and heart health, fibromyalgia, fatigue conditions and eating disorders. Issues related to men and men's diseases and health are also included in the group's research projects.
