Professional Education and Practice (ProPrax)
What are we researching?
The purpose of the research group is to develop knowledge about learning and development in professional education and practice, with an emphasis on health and social professions that VID educates for. The group works on the assumption that there is a close connection between pedagogical development and research, between empiricism and theory, and between education and practice. The group develops many projects through collaboration between education and practice, and has several externally funded projects. The group's research area has two natural branches: one explores central phenomena related to value learning and formation in professional education, professional pedagogy and forms of knowledge in the professions. The second branch explores concrete learning and development projects in close collaboration between the educational institutions and the field of practice. Several projects have elements of both of these orientations. ProPrax is a continuation of the Oslo part of the former Learning Research, and collaborates closely with the sister group Lærdis in Bergen.
