Documentation
What do I need to document?
You must always document that you meet all the admission requirements for the education you have applied for. You can find the admission requirements on the program's website.
Samordna opptak
If you have applied through Samordna opptak, you can find detailed information about what you need to document and what is valid documentation at Samordna opptak.
Local Admission
If you have applied for admission in our local Application Web, you must upload all necessary documentation via this admission portal. If you have previously uploaded documentation to Samordna opptak, it will not be transferred to local admissions. The documentation deadline is generally the same date as the application deadline.
What do I need to upload?
Many diplomas are digital today, and we can often retrieve your education electronically, but not always. It is therefore important that you check your application. Under "Mine dokumenter" on Søknadsweb, you can see what is available to us and upload more documentation. You must upload documentation for other matters (such as work experience, education from abroad, and the like).
If you are unsure of what to upload to document the requirements, you can read more further down.
How do I upload documentation?
You upload documentation as the final step in the application process in Søknadsweb. You can also log in later and upload documentation under "Mine dokumenter" on Søknadsweb.
You will receive a receipt by email when you upload something in Søknadsweb. You are responsible for documenting that you meet the admission requirements, that the documentation is uploaded correctly, and that it is uploaded in time.
Documentation check
All documentation is checked by the admissions office. In cases of doubt, you may be asked to present originals.
At the start of studies, a random selection of 10% of new students will be asked to present original diplomas and certificates. Incorrect or misleading information may result in you losing your right to study.
False documentation is covered by the Penal Code § 166 and § 182, and is always reported to the police.

Education
Higher education
You document higher education with a diploma and transcript.
We have access to results from most Norwegian educational institutions taken after the year 2000. Under "my documents" on Søknadsweb you can see what is available to us. If you do not see your education here, you must upload more documentation yourself. Please note that, among other things, BI does not use the same system as VID, and you must therefore always upload documentation from BI yourself.
Do you have education from abroad?
You must upload an official diploma and transcript. If the original document is not in English or a Scandinavian language, you must upload both the original version and a translation from an approved interpretation service.
Not finished with your education?
If you complete your education the semester you apply for admission, you must document completed subjects to date, and write in the remarks field which education you will complete.
Education from VGS
You document education from upper secondary school with a diploma or certificate of competence. See Samordna opptak (link to samordnaopptak.no) for more information.
If you have an electronic diploma from upper secondary school, we will have access to this in Søknads web, even if it is not visible to you in Søknadsweb. You can log in to Samordna opptak to check your electronic diploma (even if you do not have an application there).
If you do not have an electronic diploma, you must upload a copy of your diploma/certificate of competence in Søknadsweb.
Practice / professional practice
You document practice (relevant work experience) with a certificate or service certificate in PDF format, or a picture/scan of a printout. Files in editable format, such as Word, will not be approved.
The certificate must be signed and dated by the employer, and must contain
- Job title
- Scope (percentage of position or hours worked)
- Start and end date
In order for extra shifts/hours to count, the number of hours per month or year must appear in the certificate.
If you have professional experience as a self-employed person, this must be documented with a certificate of registered company from the Brønnøysund Register Centre, together with something that can document the extent of work - for example, contracts, invoices, or tax returns.
