Centre for the Study of World Christianity and Religion
CWCR - The Centre for World Christianity and Religion - is a research centre that organizes the PhD programme in Theology and Religion at VID Specialized University. The centre's research focus is World Christianity, centring on diverse expressions of Christian faith and contextual theology.
CWCR is part of the Faculty of Theology and Social Sciences and has 35 PhD students and 15 academic staff members associated with its doctoral programme. In addition to a focus on World Christianity, the centre encompasses several projects within the classical theological disciplines, as well as projects within religious studies. Important thematic approaches in the PhD education and in the centre's research activity are found in projects dealing with mission history, migration, indigenous peoples, postcolonial perspectives, and Christianity’s relationship with world religions.
