About the project
The study aims to examine, understand and explain the charismaticisation of the East African Revival (EAR) in Tanzania. In particular, we will examine how Pentecostal and Charismatic Christianity (PCC) has influenced the theology, spirituality and identity of the revivalists of New Life in Christ (NLC), a charismatic fellowship that traces its origin back to the EAR. Due to delimited material, the project is primarily a qualitative study based on participant observation and life story interviews of members of an NLC fellowship in Dar es Salaam. The study aims to contribute with a thorough understanding of the multifaceted relationship between PCC and the EAR in Tanzania. Furthermore, it will contribute to the ongoing discussion regarding the charismaticisation of contemporary Christianity in Africa.
