About the project

The research studies Pentecostal peacebuilders within the inter-religious peacebuilding programme PaRC in Ethiopia. The programme is financed by SIDA and led by PMU, a Swedish Pentecostal NGO, together with Evangelical Churches Fellowship Ethiopia and other Ethiopian partners. Through qualitative interviews with the peacebuilders and recurrent participant observations, the research hopes to construct what kind of lived theology of peace that can be found within the programme. It aims to uncover theological synergies, challenges, and opportunities that arise when Pentecostal leaders, women and youth engage with believers from different religious and ethnical backgrounds in their pursuit of sustainable peace and interfaith harmony. It also aims to see if Pentecostal/charismatic faith contributes in its own (unique) way to peacebuilding.
