Gender-Based Violence and Contextual Theology in Ethiopia: A Case Study in Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus

About the project
This project examines how the Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus (EECMY) addresses gender-based violence through its theological and cultural frameworks. It investigates what theological and cultural factors within the church either enable or prevent violence against women. Understanding how churches engage with the issues of gender-based violence is therefore essential for developing effective, contextually appropriate interventions. The study adopts a decolonial approach that centers local religious knowledge within the Ethiopian context.
