Om prosjektet
The complex interplay between cultural context and interpretation of 1 Corinthians 14: 33b-40 is evident in MLC. The MLC’s decision-making landscape, up to the present moment, has regrettably prevent the ordination of female theologians, underscoring the profound impact of cultural influences on ecclesiastical policies.
In contrast of this situation, there was a woman called Volahavana Germaine alias Nenilava, the esteemed female founder of the revival movement “Fifohazana” I can confirm her profound influence in the church. Acknowledged as a major national spiritual leader by the MLC, Nenilava's legacy is completely opposite to the denial of women's ordination in the same church.
The study aims to undertake a contextual re-interpretation of 1 Corinthians 14:33b-40, centering on the voices of women within the MLC through the lens of Nenilava’s paradigm, offering insights that transcend traditional boundaries, and foster a more inclusive theological discourse within the Malagasy context.
Methods applied are focus group, qualitative interviews. I will also conduct a comparative approach employing literature reviews to discern the diverse readings of 1 Corinthians 14:33b-40.
