Academic profile
Background and Experience: Educated as a physiotherapist, with practical experience from both the municipal health service and the specialist health service. Has participated in and led several research projects, with a particular focus on digitalisation and eHealth, health promotion for people with chronic diseases, and educational research using VR technology and student-active learning methods. Project management: Solstien 3 - A digital learning house for student-active learning methods (2021-2024): As project manager for this HK-DIR-funded project, I managed a multidisciplinary initiative to develop and implement VR simulation in 4 educational programs at VID Specialized University. We developed 360 videos for use in VR headsets as well as simulation and discussion tasks for student activity in teaching. The project involved the bachelor's programs in social education, nursing, social work, and occupational therapy at 3 VID campuses, and was successful in terms of use and continuation of project results. Other major research projects: - Doctoral project (2013-2018): My Ph.D. project focused on the development, adaptation and piloting of "Guided Self-Determination", an eHealth guidance method for people with type 2 diabetes in general practice. This work, which was part of the larger Research Council-funded DiaHealth project led by Marit Graue at Western Norway University of Applied Sciences (HVL), tested a person-centered guidance model that aims to promote autonomy in treatment and follow-up at the GP's office. The results underscore the importance of self-determination, competence development, and intrinsic motivation. - Strong and Healthy - Lifestyle Centers: I was a student researcher in a larger research project that investigated the effects of a lifestyle change program for people with obesity. This program is now part of the Lifestyle Center in Stavanger. Academic Interests: My research interests include eHealth, person-centered care, guidance, diabetes treatment, digital pedagogy, and implementation of technology in health professional education. I have expertise in intervention development, applied research and improvement of both treatment, guidance and follow-up of people with chronic diseases, as well as the use of technology to ensure student activity to improve education in health sciences.
