Professional practice with children, young people and families (PROBUF)

The research group conducts research on and develops knowledge about professional practice in working with children, young people, and families. The group produces knowledge for a field of practice that is constantly evolving and is characterized by demanding and ethically challenging issues.

What are we researching?

The research group is composed of researchers from various disciplines who come together to develop knowledge about professional practice in working with children, young people, and families. By designing projects within this theme, the group will produce important knowledge for a practice field in constant development, characterized by demanding and ethically challenging issues. The knowledge development in this is in line with VID's overall objective of exploring values, ethical dilemmas and conflicts, power and responsibility in health and social services. The research group has a multi- and interdisciplinary profile and an objective to develop practice-relevant knowledge for the social and health field. A common denominator for the research in PROBUF is how social workers and/or therapists interact with children, young people, and families in their professional roles. The group will also focus on professional interaction, and the scope for action given within professional practice in various professional contexts. This will also involve focusing on interaction patterns between professionals and users, relatives, and volunteers. The group's field of knowledge also includes political and theoretical perspectives on children, young people, and families in encounters with welfare state services.
