Checklist for new students
1. Receive an email with your PIN and student number
In August, we'll send you an email with your student number and a PIN. You'll need this to create a Feide account. If you haven't received the email August 11th, master's student can contact opptak@vid.no and exchange students can contact the International Office.
What is Feide?
Feide is a secure login and data-sharing system for education. You use Feide to log into VID's systems, including My Page and your timetable.
2. Log in to My Page
Once you've received your student number and PIN via email, you can log in to "My Page." During your first login, you'll need to activate your FEIDE account. Click on "New student." Follow the steps to log in, and you'll be ready for your first day of study.
What can you find on My Page?
On My Page, you'll find your schedule, information about the start of your studies, access to reading lists, tools, and much more.
3. Pay your semester and tuition fees
In August, you'll find your invoice in Studentweb. To register for the semester, you need to pay the semester and tuition fee. This is a requirement to complete your semester registration.
If you are an Erasmus+ student, you pay your tuition fee to your home institution, not to VID.
How to pay
Make sure to use the KID number on your invoice. Once your payment is completed, it will take about three business days before you can start your semester registration on Studentweb.
Remember to pay by the due date on your invoice to avoid any fees.
Do you have any other questions about payments? You can read more here.
4. Semester registration
Semester registration takes place at the beginning of each semester. Before you can register, you need to have paid the semester fee. You can see your timetable no later than 24 hours after you've registered.
You register through Studentweb. Check our guide to do it correctly.
Deadlines:
- Autumn: 15 September
- Spring: 15 February
5. Dowload the Student ID mobile app
Download the Student ID app to be able to identify yourself as a student when obtaining student discounts on public transport and more.
Read more about and download the app at sikt.no.
6. Join Buddy week on your campus
Buddy Week is a fantastic way to meet the people you'll be studying with and find your place at VID. The buddies, current students at VID, will guide you and make sure you feel welcomed and included. We encourage all new students to join in.
Good luck! We're looking forward to seeing you in the fall.
