The SEP project is one of three appointed Excellence in Research projects at VID Specialized University 2020 – 2023.
Our vision in the SEP project is to contribute to enhance spiritual care in nursing practice to the benefits of patients.
The overall objective is that the SEP-project develops into an internationally acknowledged Centre of Excellence for Spiritual Care Education for undergraduate nursing students.
Our aims are to:
- Develop students’ confidence and competence in assessing and delivery of spiritual care by facilitation of learning within clinical practice
- Develop a model for practice to strengthen clinical nurses as spiritual care providers, role models and supervisors for nursing students, as well as enhancing patients’ life-led care
- Build collaboration with the School of Nursing in the Faculty of Health Sciences at Christian University of North Haiti (UCNH) to develop capacity for spiritual care education in the nursing program there (theory and practice).

Working group: Associate Professor Britt M Kuven, Western Norway University of Applies Sciences, Associate Professor Venke Ueland, University of Stavanger, Associate Professor Bodil Bø Våga, University of Stavanger, Professor Wilfred Mc Sherry, Professor Pamela Cone, Professor Linda Ross, and Professor Rene van Leeuwen.I perioden 2016 – 2019 arbeidde 31 forskarar og undervisarar frå 21 europeisks land i eit ERASMUS+ prosjekt med navnet EPICC med å utvikle ein standard for utdanning i åndeleg omsorg for sjukepleiarstudentar.
