Faculty of Theology and Social Sciences
The faculty has around 80 employees and 850 students. Within the subject areas, the faculty offers the six-year cand.theol degree in addition to two bachelor's programs, six master's programs and several year-long courses and further education programs. The faculty also has a Ph.D. program in religion and theology with around 40 students. Many of the faculty's study programs are available as online studies or collection-based studies.
The faculty conducts extensive assignment activities aimed at public administration, non-profit welfare actors and church organizations, among other things related to the academic environment in value-based management (in Oslo) and Centre for Intercultural Communication (SIK) in Stavanger.
For those who want education for the ministry, the faculty has a complete offer with both cand.theol degree, experience-based master priest, the flexible program flexteol and practical theological education in Stavanger. At The Church Education Center North (KUN) in Tromsø, the faculty offers practical church education for priests, deacons, catechists and church musicians with an emphasis on in-depth understanding of the Northern Norwegian context. KUN is also a competence center for the Church of Norway when it comes to Sami and Kven Christianity and spirituality as well as truth and reconciliation.
Centre for the Study of World Christianity and Religion, which is part of the faculty, is the Nordic region's leading academic environment for world Christianity and is also home to the PhD programme in theology and religion.
