Work requirements
The following common course requirements must all be met to obtain 5 ECTS/stp:
1. Participation/ Attendance
Participation in the course over three days.
Participants are required to attend 75 % of the course. Valid absence must be documented and cannot be more than 25 %.
2. Evaluation
Participation in the evaluation of academic courses, if the offer is made subject to evaluation in the current semester. The evaluation may be given in electronic quest-back or in another form, and it must be answered by the given deadline.
3. Literature review/ Reading before the course
It is expected that participants are familiar with relevant literature before the course starts.
4. Abstract of project with presentation of it
Participants are supposed to submit an abstract before the course, within the scope of 1 page. This abstract should deal with perspectives on analysis related to their doctoral project or alternative project.
During the course we will have time for presentations, questions and discussion. The presentation must deal with analysis, and participants are advised to highlight specific issues related to their project in this context. Tutors and lecturers will as far as possible participate during the presentations.
The final program for the presentations will be announced before the course starts.
5. Paper
In order to obtain 5 ETC, students must submit a written paper after the course of up to 5 pages (approx.1750 words with 1.5 line spacing) + references. Some of the topics from the course must be discussed and reflected in the work.
It is expected that the written work is related to the ongoing PhD project, and with reflections and discussions related to analyzing data and writing up findings of the project. For other participants, it is advantageous, but not required, that the work involves discussions relating to their own ongoing research project or projects in progress.
The written paper will be assessed according to the outcomes described in the Program Description for the PhD in Diaconia, Values and Professional Practice, pages 21 and 22).
6. Course credits
If all the requirements are met 5 ECTS will be credited.
